Singing in the Rain! Eva's Photo Session

There is one little girl that stole a place in my heart many years ago and never fails to bring a smile to my face, Miss Eva Chellin. This little girl, my pickle, is such a joy and I love that her mom (who by the way is also amazing) asked me to take her pictures when I was back in Minnesota in May (yes...I know...I have been slacking on the posts!). Eva's mom had tons of great ideas for locations, outfits, props...the works! But, the weather would just not cooperate with us. So instead we traded in the vintage dresses for rain boots and an umbrella. Not only was it a rainy day, but it was a cold rainy day. Thank goodness Eva was a trooper! I know I sure had fun getting to capture the Eva smile! Hope you enjoy the pictures!

A Garland Wedding

I'm posting this blog about a beautiful wedding and all I can think about are family reunions. How did I get so old that now all my cousins are getting married? My cousin, Ryan and his now wife, Jocelyn, asked me to photograph their wedding last month. I was ecstatic that they asked ME! Not only did that mean that I was going to get to use my camera, but I was going to get to see family that I hadn't seen in far too long. And, did I mention that I got to drag my brother, Josh the talented, along with me to be my second?

Beautiful weather, a garden venue, more smiles than I can count, a God centered wedding, and two very in love individuals. I love weddings!

Jocelyn, we are so excited that you are part of our family! Remember that the Garlands are a little crazy...ok...a lot crazy! But, we have a way of growing on you...hehe!

Motherhood...a reality check!

Confession time...haha...welcome to my world...

I made it through the week. Not going to lie, it was rough at times, but over all it was great! I had the privilege of helping out in the mornings at a church camp with 13 -14 little ones who were a handful...but I seriously do miss them. Yesterday I had a blast doing a maternity session for a dear friend and when I got home was very proud of the images I was able to take. Today I actually was able to get myself ready an hour early for church in order to go with David who was on setup duty today. After church we were able to get e down for an early and very needed nap, I got to rest, I have most of my wedding editing done, we went for a walk this afternoon, when we got home I was able to bust out supper (which entailed using up a bunch of leftovers and it still tasted good), and boy oh boy was I feeling like super mom! And then it hit me smack in the face with a simple moment that reminded me of just how human I am served up with a huge spoonful of humility...I sneezed! Yup, without going into detail, you out there who have had a baby know exactly what I mean.  Oh goodness. That followed by e having a complete meltdown during supper and refusing to eat anything we offered him (pretty much the number one stresser in my life is when e doesn't eat!) was the reminder I needed that in every moment I need to keep my eyes up and be thankful for what God has helped me do, it's not me!

Well, now that confession time is over, I'll leave you with our crazy pictures from this week. We have made it to 30 weeks! Can't believe our second little monster is going to be here in just over 2 months!!!

A Happy Father's Day!

Father's Day! A day set apart each year to remind us to stop and appreciate the fathers that have influenced our lives. As I sit and think about these men I am overwhelmed by how blessed I am. Not only do I have a wonderful daddy (LOVE YOU!) but two amazing Grandpas. Then I married David (I will get to him in a second) who also has a wonderful father and David was blessed with two wonderful Grandfathers. These men love the Lord and have given us incredible examples of how to live life to the fullest! These are just the fathers in our lives, but it would be unfair to forget the brothers, uncles and mentors that have been part of our lives for almost the last 30 years. We are seriously BLESSED!

Now...on to David...I don't want to bore you or make you jealous by writing pages upon pages about how amazing of a man he is. So instead, I will just tell you that he is the best father that my boys could ever ask for. Godly, dedicated, persistent, filled with unconditional love and a patience for us that only he could have, you get the picture. PERFECT for us! We love you David and are so thankful that you are a part of our life!

We did a lot of celebrating this weekend, but some of the many highlights were our trip to Bergey's Breadbasket in Chesapeake. E was so excited about the animals that he hardly wanted to keep eating my ice cream. "Goat! Goat! Goat!" The poor people in the ice cream parlor were probably about to beg us to just go see the goats! Another highlight was the ball pit! Best idea ever! I had been trying to think about what activities we could get on a budget for our very active little boy that would love to live outside but lives in an apartment without a yard. I came up with the ball pit idea and it was a WIN! And, of course, the weekend wouldn't be complete without a walk around downtown and waving to the Tide as it drives by. Hopefully David enjoyed the weekend as much as we did!

Sackett Family! Fun at the Playground!

While I was in Minnesota (that seriously feels like it was months ago!) I not only got to photograph a couple weddings, but also had the privilege of taking pictures of the kiddos and niece of one of my friends (she is actually the sister of the bride of the wedding I just posted).
Our little town of Litchfield just put in a brand new playground which is pretty awesome so of course we had to take pictures there! The kids had a blast and I am sure everyone around was laughing at the pregnant lady trying to keep up with them as they discovered the slides, swings, and tunnels. So, let me introduce you to these sweet smiles...Lukas (the younger boy) and his big brother Isaak, and their cousin Karlyn.
